The Association recognized the need and took the project under it's
umbrella, starting it with a $2,000 donation. All further fundraising
efforts are being done by volunteers called Nicks Ambassadors.
In 2006, MVNIA began working with the Gautilles after the family had already spent a year investigating their options.
The home addition, designed
by Mike Dixon of Dixon Architects, will serve several functions: It will expand the main (entry) level to include all of Nick’s living facilities. It will include a bathroom,
Nick's bedroom, and a transitional area between his bedroom and the kitchen.
The front and rear of the home will be made handicap accessible.
An interior ramp will enable
Nick to conveniently reach the lower level. He will then have access to
the current family room and a new game room. The game room will be even
more important in the coming years. The designing architect kept Nick's
social needs and limited extracurricular endeavors in mind with his design of
this room so that Nick can have a special place to entertain friends.
